A healthcare professional wearing blue gloves and a navy scrub top is tattooing a patient's forehead with a device labeled 'COVER OF'. The patient is lying down on a treatment table, and the professional focuses intently on her work in a clinical setting with medical equipment around.

CryoPen is an advanced cryotherapy device used to remove benign skin lesion such as warts, skin tags, age spots and millia. It works by delivering a precise, high-pressure jet of liquid nitrogen or nitric oxide to freeze and destroy targeted tissue without damaging the surrounding skin. It works by forming ice crystals within the cells, leading to their natural destruction.

CryoPen treatment is quick with minimal discomfort and downtime. Patients may experience mild redness or blistering, but these effects usually resolve within a few days. Most lesions are removed in a single treatment, but some conditions do need a couple of treatments for complete resolution.

Dermatoscope Examination and Map My Mole Service

Prior to any treatment your lesion will be reviewed in clinic by Dr Lizzie with a skin microscope called a Dermatoscope. If clearly benign you will be treated, if there are any concerns you may be asked to consult a dermatologist.  In clinic we are proud to offer a service from Map My Mole which allows us to send a digital dermoscopic picture for review by a consultant dermatologist.

FAQs

  • CryoPen is a precision cryotherapy device used to safely and effectively remove benign skin imperfections. It uses a fine jet of nitrous oxide to freeze and destroy unwanted tissue, allowing new, healthy skin to form underneath.

  • CryoPen can remove a wide range of common skin lesions including:

    • Skin tags

    • Age spots and sun spots (solar lentigines)

    • Warts and verrucas

    • Milia

    • Cherry angiomas (red spots)

    • Pigmentation marks and small benign moles*

(*Moles must be medically assessed before treatment to ensure suitability.)

  • The CryoPen emits a targeted micro-stream of cold gas that freezes the affected area with precision. This process destroys abnormal or unwanted cells while leaving surrounding healthy tissue untouched. The lesion naturally falls away as the skin heals.

  • Downtime is minimal. The treated area may appear slightly red, blistered, or darker for a few days before naturally flaking or crusting over. Once healed, the skin appears smoother and clearer.

  • Most clients experience only mild discomfort — similar to a short stinging or tingling sensation that lasts a few seconds. No anaesthetic is usually required.

  • In most cases, one treatment is sufficient. Stubborn or larger lesions may require a follow-up session after 4–6 weeks.

  • Yes. CryoPen delivers precise freezing only to the targeted area, minimising damage to surrounding skin. Treatments are performed by trained practitioners at Morris Aesthetics under the supervision of Dr Lizzie to ensure safety and accurate lesion identification.

  • Lesions usually fall away within 1–2 weeks, with new skin forming shortly after. Pigmented marks may lighten gradually over several weeks as the skin regenerates.

  • Yes. Once the skin has fully healed, CryoPen can be complemented by brightening or resurfacing treatments such as peels or facials to enhance overall tone and texture.
